Confession: Gift wrapping is one of my most favorite Holiday past times. I love setting up my little station on the floor, carefully positioning each tool where it can be accessed with one hand while the other holds down a fold of paper. A sappy Hallmark movie or Christmas music has to be playing in the background to set up the mood. Christmas cookies are a mandatory refueling agent. My mom will normally join me, and we end up stealing the scissors back and forth. About five minutes in, the tape will go missing amid piles of paper and bows. A brother will soon attempt to pick the locked door and there will be a short time of panicked yelling, present shielding, and doors slamming. Good Times. In the end, though, you have some dressed up packages ready for the tree! Mission Accomplished. I really do enjoy the whole process. It’s a brief moment in the chaotic season where we can breathe easy focusing all our thoughts and energy upon one simple task: Bringing a smile to the faces of our loved ones!
